Linda Eastman: Casa Colibri
Casa Colibrí is a not-for-profit humanitarian organization committed to helping the Mayan people of
northwest Guatemala improve their lives through programs in health, education, and infrastructure.
"The Rotary Club of Squamish (British Columbia, Canada) has been with Casa Colibri since the beginning. Several of their intrepid members have travelled to Guatemala to do major infrastructure and road work. They built the foundation for the clinic, and two of them participated in a midwife training. They also do all the accounting and banking for donations that are made in Canadian dollars. As if that weren't enough, last year they stepped up to pay the first three years' salary for our professional nurse who staffs the clinic. We cannot thank these Hometown Heroes enough for their steadfast support--past, present, and future!"
