ROTARY FUNDING for COMMUNITY PROJECTS

OVERVIEW

Rotary is an international service organization, approximately 1.2 million persons strong, whose primary objective is service – in the community, in the workplace and around the globe.

Our mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance understanding, goodwill and peace through our fellowship of business, professional and community leaders.  All monies raised through our fundraising events are returned to our local or global community through charitable work, and often matched or supported through the Rotary International Foundation.

The Rotary Club of Squamish has two preferred intake dates for receipt of applications for funding each year. Requests may be received at other times of the year, in emergent circumstances, if funding is available. Applications will be reviewed based on Rotary’s Areas of Focus, our priorities for the Rotary year, and taking into consideration our available resources. These areas of focus are posted on our Club website and updated each year.

The amount of money available varies from year to year depending on the success of our fundraisers and investments.  We historically receive more funding requests than what is available each year, so we assess applications based on the following criteria:

  • How well does the project fit within the areas of focus prioritized for the current year
  • How will the project benefit the community, including the audience expected to benefit and the number of beneficiaries
  • How will the project be sustained going forward
  • What resources will the applicant organization contribute
  • What opportunities there are for direct involvement of the Rotary Club and its members
  • How will the proposed Rotary assistance help the organization to take a step forward in its own development
  • How will Rotary be recognized for its contribution of time and/or financial assistance
  • How much funding is available

Organizations wishing to apply for grant/project funding must complete the application form.

If successful, the organization will be expected to attend a Rotary meeting and provide an overview of the project, upon completion.
