Mount Garibaldi - Nch’ḵay̓
Squamish BC
Overlooking the vibrant streets of downtown Squamish, Mount Garibaldi rises to 2,678 metres, a recognizable landmark in the Sea to Sky Corridor. Nch’ḵay̓, as it is called by the local Indigenous people, has watched over the lands that the Skwxwú7mesh people have called home for millennia. This mountain, like other special features in the area, is part of their rich history, mythology, and stories.
After Vancouver mountaineers first summited the peak in 1907, the mountain and its scenic surroundings became a desirable objective for adventurers, leading to the creation of Garibaldi Park in 1927. Outdoor recreation and bustling cafes, shops and breweries continue to make Squamish a favourite place to live, work and play.
