Another HUGE success for the two day event. Way to go all Volunteers that made this year possible. Approximately $14 000.00 of net sales with 104 roasts cooked, approx 225 dozen buns made.

This years Logger Sports weekend started with the fear that no one would be able to get to the show due to the massive rock slide that closed the Sea to Sky highway the Tuesday night prior to the weekend. This was not the case as evident by the big crowds that came out for the Bed Race event Friday night and the huge crowd for the free Saturday Show.

The Saturday crew cooked 44 roasts on two loads that was anticipated to fullfill the needs for the day. At 10 AM Randall made the call to cook the second batch of 16 roasts. "I fully expected to have roasts left over to sell. How could we beat last year's totals when the road is closed, he speculated?" Well the locals came out and were they hungary for those great Rotary style beef sandwiches. The crowd expanded from a mere 40 in the stands at 12:30 to about 80% capacity by 3 PM. The line up for tickets snaked back and forth across the front of the booth. The slicers and sandwich builders worked frantically to catch up but it was very difficult with one slicer malfunctioning for 30 minutes and a shortfall of 4-6 volunteers. What a day! out of beef by 3:45 PM. Approximately 84 dozen buns were made.

Day two (Sunday) proved to be just as busy. The volunteers started an hour early to get that first load of 32 roasts on the fire by 7:15 am. It was a good thing too because the second load of 28 roasts came off just in time for the afternoon slicing. Another 142 dozen buns were made by a full compliment of volunteers. "Absolutely crazy day of sales! It is hard to believe that this little group of sandwich builders can slice, build, and serve that much product." Randall was in awe of the Rotarians, family of rotarians, and friends that came out to make it a success.

There is a photo journal to view pictures taken on the weekend. Unfortunately there is a lack of photos taken on Sunday due to the fact that the photographer was slaving on the sandwich production line.

Way to go Squamish Rotary!

Some special thanks to:

Save-On Foods for handling the supplies, beef, and buns.

Greg Gardner for the truck that was loaned to the Logger Sports for the weekend. Randall borrowed it many times for supply runs.

Brian Avey for the short notice gravy production at the Squamish Golf C.C.

Bill McNeeney for the little things that make a big difference to the operation.

The early morning roasting crew of Tom, Glen, Doug R., Dave R, Stein, and many more.

All of the slicers, sandwich builders, ticket window, and condiment handlers. What a great team!

Too many more to list...thanks everyone!
