Andrew Wilkinson Biography

Andrew Wilkinson, BC Liberal Leader and MLA for Vancouver - Quilchena, currently leads the Opposition Caucus in the BC Legislature. Having previously served as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Minister of Advanced Education and Minister of Technology, Innovation and Citizens' Services in British Columbia, he has held an array of diverse files. Prior to being elected in 2013, Andrew worked in the BC Public Service as a Deputy Minister of the BC Ministry of Economic Development and the Deputy Minister for Intergovernmental Relations in the Premier’s Office.

Before entering public life, Andrew earned his MD at the University of Alberta and spent his young adult years practicing medicine in the communities of Campbell River, Lillooet and Dease Lake. He later went on to earn law degrees from the University of Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar, and Dalhousie University. He practiced as a litigator in the Vancouver offices of a major national law firm.

As an active community member, Andrew has served as a past President for BC Civil Liberties Association, the BC Mountaineering Club, as well as the BC Liberal Party.
